TEXT STYLE: YOU MUST SELECT YOUR TEXT AND SELECT A FONT NAME/SIZE/COLOR/ ETC. OR THE TEXT WILL BE WHAT EVER THE VIEWERS BROWSER IS SET AT. WITH VERSION PL4 AND LATER YOU CAN JUST SELECT THE "STYLE" AND IT WILL ALL BE DONT FOR YOU - WE CAN CHANGE OR ADD TO THESE IF YOU WANT

WHY Etomite? It took us 5 years to find an easy to use and stable content manager. Closest one to this costs over $2,000.00. Many people can edit a site at the same time from any computer without any software needed, only a internet connection.

MUCH easier to keep a site fresh and add information, even for US.

It is not as easy as the ones with a few fixed templates BUT thouse you would outgrow in a few weeks, this system you will never outgrow.

Etomite can be expanded with "plugins" and custom scripts that can be added at anytime.

By adding new "templates" you can change the look and layout of any page.

VERY IMPORTANT is that it automatically makes your pages readable with any browser when you click on "save" Etomite rewrites the page for you to meet all browser standards. Over 20% of viewers are now NOT using Internet Explorer, this figure is rising daily, in 2005 this figure was 2%.

You can also "un-publish" a page then "re-publish it later after you make changes as for an event every year, saves MUCH time, this can be done automatically with the publish and un-publish dates option

Remember ANYTHING can be changed and modified so we can give you ANYTHING you want.

Why navigation bar at the top on inside pages? - so YOU can put content full width and not just less than 1/2 the page and have to reorganize the page every time new pages are added and the side navigation links changes height.

IF YOU CONNECTION IS SLOW OR ERRATIC - DO NOT EDIT YOUR SITE AS IF IT TIMES OUT OR CRASHES WEIRD THINGS CAN HAPPEN TO YOUR PAGES!

Why set size at 760 px wide - so it will fit on a viewers screen that is set at 800x600 and NOT have to scroll left and right

We suggest you use the IE Browser, as much as we like Firefox, IE is better to edit with as it holds the editor more stable. However the latest Firefox has "on line" spell check and any miss spelled words are underlined, dictionary is limited but very nice.

GETTING STARTED

If you are familiar with "Word Processor" programs like Microsoft Word, Publisher, etc. you won't have a problem, if you are not familiar we suggest you work WITH someone who is.

Remember "we" will add content for you, make changes, anything you need including personal training - just because you CAN do it yourself does not mean that you have to. We will add new templates, headers, change the colors, etc. for you, these changes can damage your entire site if not done properly.

When you add a new page or edit a page, the things you do are SAFE as it will only screw up "that page" and is not visible to the public until it is "published", but in Configuration, Templates, etc. it can screw up your entire site.

Suggestion: do the stuff below at the same time you are reading it so it makes more sense.

We suggest to open your editor and another page with your site so you can "SEE EXACTLY" the page after you hit the "save" button - don't forget to "refresh/reload" to see the changes. You can just go back and forth as you work.

Under the "identification tab" the "description" is what shows up in search engines and on your "site map" page as what the page is about so be descriptive. THIS IS IMPORTANT!

Under the "identification" tab in the bottom box enter one word to describe the page or word_word this is the file name of the page.

PUBLISHED OR NOT? On the left / bottom are all the pages in your site, items in GREEN are published pages for the public to see. Items in red or with an X are things the public does NOT SEE or in short NOT included in your Navigation Section. But these pages can be linked to within your pages. Also click on the "folders" to SEE the pages inside them.

BEFORE YOU SAVE: on the bottom left panel click on the page you want your new page to be "under" on the navigation bar or click on the very TOP line to ADD a button on the main navigation bar ( do NOT add more buttons then will fit across the page or it will distort the page layout, we can make the template wider if you need)

At any time you can click on Help ? icon and it will bring up a page with links to the Etomite site forums with all types of answers about Etomite.
