X-CART SHORTCUTS

log in to admin area – link is on YOUR admin page links

To CHANGE ANYTHING on an item

select  “Modify product”
select search words (any word that is contained in what you want to edit)
you can also click on “advanced search” for more options
click on “underlined” title of the product you want “
change whatever you want to
to change image – delete the old one and upload a new one – suggest 300px wide max
don’t forget the “In this section” product options – upper right screen for items like wholesale pricing, extra images, etc
click on “save”

TO ADD A NEW ITEM (also see clone below)

select “add new product”
change image – upload image – suggest 300px wide max
select “main category” – if new category add the new category first – see bleow
select “additional categories”  hold down on “ctrl” key and click on ALL the ones you want this item to show up in
SKU is YOUR product number you use to identiiy this product (one is auto entered – and must be DIFFERENT than any other)
short desc – is what shows up in the main product list (will auto …. at so many words so you can just copy/paste the below)
long desc – is what shows up when you click on more details to just see the product
price – is the price you charge
list price – price here will show “your price” difference xx% off in main list – not needed
quantity in stock – no needed unless you have “inventory control” turned on
low limit – same
minimum order – is the MINIMUM someone can order of this product
weight – not needed unless your have “freight price by weight” selected
tax exempt – yes or no
free shipping – yes or no
shipping freight – if you are calculating freight this amount will be ADDED to the cal amount
apply global discounts – you can include this item in a SALE at x% of ALL ITEMS that are checked
save
at the top you will now see additional options
enter what you need
save

ADD A NEW ITEM THAT IS CLOSE TO EXISTING ITEM – JUST CLONE IT

select  “Modify product”
select search words (any word in what you want to edit)
in the results
click on the “check box” to the left of the item you want to copy
click on “clone product”
do same procedure as change product
don’t forget to delete the (CLON) that is automatically added to the product descriptionsave
